Turksat Satellite Communication and Cable TV Operation AS is the only satellite operator company in Turkey. It was founded as a publicly owned and privately operated company. Turksat AS also has 75% of the shares of Eurasiasat SAM, jointly established a spin-off company with Alcatel Space in 1996 to manufacture and launch Turksat 2A (Eurasiasat 1) in 2001. Turksat AS operates Turksat 1C, Turksat 2A and Astra 1D(lease capacity). In 2008 new generation satellite Turksat 3A will be orbited at 42 degrees East
