Turkish Badminton Federation

Türkiye Badminton Federasyonu (TBF) (Badminton Federation of Turkey) is the governing body for badminton in Turkey. It aims to govern, encourage and develop the sport for all throughout Turkey.

TBF has been established at 31 May 1991. First president of the TBF is İrfan Yıldırım. TBF has been accepted to International Badminton Federation as the 104th member at 3 November 1991.

After the first elections held for sports federations in Turkey, at 5 December 1993, Akın Taşkent has been the second president of the federation but the first who has been elected. For two terms, between 1997 - 2004, federation is governed by A. Faik İmamoğlu. And since 2004, Murat Özmekik is the president of the Badminton Federation of Turkey.

After the first tournament with 24 teams from 11 regions, 8 teams won the right to compete at Turkish Badminton League.

Badminton Federation of Turkey organizes the following leagues in Turkey:

  • Badminton 1. League: 12 teams
  • Badminton 2. League: 20 teams
  • Juniors 1. League: 12 teams
  • Juniors 2. League: 20 teams
  • Universitary 1. and 2. League: Teams of 38 universities.
