Turkey Point (Cry-Baby)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a map of Turkey Point Park, Maryland. This park was used by John Waters as the inspiration for the Turkey Point in the Cry-Baby movie.

Turkey Point is a hangout for the Drapes in the 1990 cult film Cry-Baby. It is located on the seedy side of Baltimore. Allison Vernon-Williams is taken there by a Drape where she gets a makeover and celebrates amongst the Drapes. However, Turkey Point also becomes a riot scene between the Drapes and the Squares, and both Allison and Wade are arrested by the police. Despite the Turkey Point being in Baltimore, it never existed in the Hairspray world where Tracy Turnblad lived out her existence approximately 5 years after the conclusion of the Cry-Baby story.

Turkey Point is based on Turkey Point Park that is in the eastern suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland in real life. Turkey Point, and Turkey Point Beach, are not fictional locations. Very few, if any of the locations that John Waters uses in his movies based in and around Baltimore are fictitious.
