[edit] Turbo Shandy
Turbo Shandy first became popular in the early 1990's when Alcopops were first introduced in the UK.
Shandy is a common drink found in many pubs and comes as a mix of 1/2 measure of Lemonade and 1/2 Lager.
A Turbo Shandy substitutes the Lemonade measure for an equal measure of a lemon flavoured Alcopop, such as Smirnoff Ice. This drink is renowned for its sweet taste, which hides the flavour of its alcoholic content (5% ABV).
The most common Turbo Shandy is made from 1/2 a pint of Stella Artois and 1/2 a pint of Smirnoff Ice.
Turboshandies are usually purchased by the younger generation of drinkers and appear frequently in the list of beverage choices of binge drinkers.
A true Turboshandy should also contain at least one shot of Vodka, preferably a double.
The correct etiquette when partaking in a round of turboshandies is to order a pint of your chosen premium strength larger, then down approximately half, add the double vodka and then finish by topping up with Smirnoff Ice (or any other Vodka based lemon flavour alcopop).
