[edit] Advertising and notability

I could wish to see more than one outside (independent) source cited, to more clearly establish notability. That said I think this is notable.

The tone is still a bit towards the advertising-flyer end of the acceptable spectrum. in particular, i think the images of the brands of ice cream should go -- they make this look just too much like an ad. If they are to stay, they all need source info and a proper copyright tag, and documentation that they were freely released, which is rather unusual for corporate images. If this isn't done, they will almost surely be deleted in a week or so anyway. DES (talk) 21:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

I'd echo the comment that the tone is a bit 'enthusiastic'. FlagSteward 15:47, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Images of the Brand(s)

The intent of this article still seems to lean toward advertising rather than encyclopedic content. I think that a voluntary removal of the images would "tone down" the advertisement feel. (just my opinion) --Stormbay 23:59, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:

Thanks for the input. There are only two inconsistencies that I would like to point out in response to your comments:

1) RE: Product Flavors. A quick look at the Haagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry's Flavors wikipedia articles shows that providing an exhaustive list of product flavors is common practice on wikipedia. I think it's hypocritical and inconsistent for such a practice to be labelled as blatant advertising on one page, but then ignored and accepted on the other. Also, I see a listing of flavors less as advertising and more as relevant information to the brand in order to educate readers about the company/organization. There is obviously a fine line here with wikipedia article entries between pure information and advertising, but I think you are always going to see a bit of crossover with regards to company articles.

2) RE: Images As the current images have not yet been released into the public domain, I will take them down. However, I do think the display of images enhances the informative value of a wikipedia article, and I would encourage other users to upload personal product pictures to this article.

As far as notability, I agree the article could use more 3rd party sources that reference the company. I will work on this, as I'm sure other wikipedia editors will as more editors familiar with the company make changes to the page. That said, I also believe that this company is notable. olephill2 (talk) 21:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
