Talk:Turok-Han
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
strong similarity between the words Turok-Han, the uber-vampires and Uruk-hai, the uber-orcs of Tolkein's universe. Anyone know if this was intentional on Joss Whedon's part? If so, should be included as etymology for the term. Bindingtheory 05:02, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe, but if we have no proof, commentary or other from reliable sources, we have nada. Abaraibar 06:46, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

- I have added a note about the name resemblance, because it seems at least as obvious to me as the mentioned Mutant Enemy mascot resemblance, and there are other examples of apparent Tolkien similarities being cited. --John Hubbard 03:22, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] FRAY CONNECTION
"When last we saw Melaka Fray the Vampire Slayer, she was about to be engulfed by a rather ugly looking demonic dragon. The creature's appearance represents the least of the world's problems. The beast is actually "the womb to the gateway" that will disgorge flesh-eating demon after flesh-eating demon. In Buffy mythology, this is the thing that gives birth to Ubervamps." I've never read the comics, but can someone write about this on the article? -Lil_Flip246
That creature in Fray does not give birth to the ubervamps, it would have given birth to Old Ones. Ubervamps are certainly not Old Ones. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vampire in Rug (talk • contribs) 11:16, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] über/uber
As much of a fan of the proper usage of the term über as I am, the show credits list ubervamp, not übervamp. Try to keep usage consistent here. samwaltz 18:00, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Merging with Vampire (Buffyverse)
The Turok-Hans apparently are ancestors of the vamps in the Buffyverse, so it should be with that article, shouldn't it?--The Scourge 01:11, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- The article has a link to Vampire (Buffyverse)'s Talkpage regarding the merge, but I see nothing about the discussion on that page. Anyway, I don't believe it's necessry to merge the articles, because the Turok-Han article contains more information than would fit on the Vampire (Buffyverse) article. -- SupāSaru 01:11, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
I think it's right to flush this article out and put it into the vampire article. Hey, who knows? Maybe it should be merged after all. Pokemon Buffy Titan 05:28, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Nobody seems to be jumping in on this topic, so I'm guessing we won't be merging the two articles. I'm not sure what the WikiProtocol is about removing {{mergeto}} tags, so unless someone objects, I'll remove it in a couple of days. • Supāsaru 16:42, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Giles said that Turok-Han are to vampires as neandertals are to humans. "An ancient and entirely different race". In order words, they share roots with the vampires but are not their ancestors. -- Noneofyourbusiness (talk) 05:42, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Buffy711.jpg
Image:Buffy711.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
