Site of Huge battle between Hannibal and Roman Army of around 25,000 soldiers. Hannibal tricked the attacking army into thinking his army was leaving by lighting bundles of sticks ontop cattle heads and driving them away from the lakeside at night. When the attacking army followed, they were surrounded and slaughtered, the last of them drowned in the freezing waters of Lake Trasimeno near Tuoro.
