The romanization of this town is "Donggang" according to the following government website: www.moiland.gov.tw/translation/Pingtung.htm The page is down however, so here's a copy of it: [1] Shawnc 03:13, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately there are a lot of gov.tw websites, most of which show the name as Tungkang. See, for example, the external link in the article. The Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese)#Place names says "Place names in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and overseas (such as Singapore) should be romanized in whatever way is commonly used for those places." The Roman character form regularly used in Taiwan for 東港 is Tungkang. I have merged the two articles under Tungkang. --Bejnar 22:59, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
