[edit] License tagging for Image:Bradyheights.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Bradyheights.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Tulsa articles
You've done a nice job on the National Register of Historic Places articles in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I'm part of Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places and I've worked on several articles within the project, so it's cool to see a bunch of new articles about Tulsa's sites. You might want to check out the WikiProject page for some background. Also, I've added infoboxes to the articles you've created, based on a query of the National Register database.
I just want to clarify that you are indeed a representative of the Tulsa Preservation Commission and that it's okay to copy the text from your organization's web site. See Wikipedia:Copyrights for more information.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me here or on my talk page. Happy editing! --Elkman (Elkspeak) 20:47, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, and one more thing: You might want to add categories to these articles with [[Category:Registered Historic Places in Oklahoma]] and [[Category:Tulsa, Oklahoma]]. Also, List of Registered Historic Places in Oklahoma contains the entire list of NRHP properties in Oklahoma, though you probably know all of them already. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 20:49, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Maple Ridge (Tulsa)
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Maple Ridge (Tulsa) article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
Feel free to re-submit a new version of the article. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."
You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. ... discospinster talk 13:44, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] More on donating copyrighted materials
I checked around a little bit more and I found this page: Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The section "Granting us permission to copy material already on line" gives some guidance in this process. Basically, you have three options: You can either put a notice on your site saying that you're releasing the material under the GNU Free Documentation License, you can place a notice on your site saying that Wikipedia has permission to reuse the material, or you can leave a notice here on this talk page saying that Wikipedia has permission to use material from http://tulsapreservationcommission.org/. Someone from Wikipedia will contact the email address listed on your site and confirm that Wikipedia has permission to reuse the content.
The articles Wikipedia:Example requests for permission and Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission#When_permission_is_confirmed provide some more guidance. It appears that you can send email to "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org" to confirm that you give Wikipedia permission to reuse the content.
I know the copyright and permission stuff sounds complicated, but it's in place so people just don't blatantly copy material from other Web sites and post it to Wikipedia and infringe copyright in the process. Basically, Wikipedia is trying to avoid legal trouble from people violating copyright.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask on my talk page. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 15:09, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Permission for Wikipedia to use material from Tulsa Preservation Commission website
The Tulsa Preservation Commission administers Historic Preservation Zoning in the City of Tulsa, identifies and nominates properties to the National Register of Historic Places, and produces educational material describing Tulsa historic resources.
In order to accomplish our educational mission, The Tulsa Preservation Commission releases the content of its website for use at Wikipedia under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later. We simply ask that text and images be attributed to the Tulsa Preservation Commission, including a link to the TPC website.
