Tulle murders

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tulle murders were two related events, taking place in June 1944 in the town of Tulle, France.

In response to French Resistance activities, the 2nd Waffen-SS Panzer Division, upon finding the remains of 64 German soldiers of the 95th Security Regiment garrison, hung 99[1] men from lampposts and balconies. Of 141 townspeople, sent to labor camps in Germany, 101 did not return.

Soon after, Major Otto Diekmann's Waffen-SS company wiped out the village of Oradour-sur-Glane on June 10.
