Tukino ski field is located on the eastern face of Mount Ruapehu, in the central area of the North Island, New Zealand. Tukino ski field has been, until 2007, private, for club members only. Recently, however, Tukino has been transformed into a public ski field. Although it lacks facilities such as chairlifts, Tukino is little known for its untouched powder and good weather, There are no chairlifts on the eastern side, making it difficult to ascend without the help of motor vehicles. avoiding the common north-western winds that are known to attack Whakapapa. It is a club skifield and is accessible by four wheel drive vehicles only.
