Tucker Rountree (born June 2, 1981) is an American guitarist, pianist, trumpeter and composer known for opening for Eric Johnson.[1][2]The young guitarist featured 7 x grammy winning drummer Paul Wertico; (Pat Methenys drummer from 1982-2000) at the 2006 Park City Jazz Festival.[3][4]
Rountree has recorded with multi Grammy winning bassist/ producer Roscoe Beck on his 2nd album : Tucker Rountree Sound, Ideas: featuring Roscoe Beck.[5] A recent review from All About Jazz wrote: "...Rountree displays a warm tone, sureness of touch, and an approach that crosses Eric Johnson with John McLaughlin"[6] Rountree is also one of the youngest guitar players to be fully sponsored by Daddario Strings and BK Butler electronics.[7]

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Tucker is an only child, who comes from a strongly artistic and creative family. Began playing guitar at age 6, a little later picked up Trumpet at age 9. Rountree is also an avid Pianist. His main instrument is Electric guitar. Nearly all 12 of his uncles and aunts in the Rountree's play guitar/piano or paint. His father Philip Rountree is a guitarist and composer in his own right, who played in the Western Reflections Band in the 1970s. Tucker's grandfather William Rountree played jazz piano completely by ear, and painted portraits in the impressionistic style. His Great Uncle Woody Rountree, played Jazz Guitar in the 1930'a, in Kay Kyser's Big Band.[8] Tuckers other uncle Phil Davis, on his maternal side of the family, is a highly regarded Film Composer and Keyboardist that has credits on the Paul McCartney 2nd solo album "Ram", and Gil Evans albums in the early 70's.[9]
Now living in New York City, Rountree continues to write and perform in his Jazz trio the Tucker Rountree Sound with bassist Doug Wright and Jason Lawrence. In the recent years, Rountree has started to compose music for Warner Brothers Soundtrack library and has worked for young film maker's Christine Altidor and Matt Farler.[10]
