Welcome! Nice to see you here!
I'm a member of Wikiproject Japan and mostly deal with Japanese Rock music here on Wikipedia and am generally dedicated to the Gackt page, so if you've found your way here, you most like me saw me on there.
If you'd like to talk with me, please leave a comment on my discussion page. Thanks. :)
CURRENT STATUS:
[edit] Who are you anyway?
I'm a sophomore in college majoring in Japanese language, but that doesn't mean my interests are limited to Japanese. I originally aspired to be an Egyptologist, but decided against it for various reasons. I live and go to school in the southeastern United States.
[edit] Interests
As my many userboxes say, I've got a keen interest in history, art, and literature- all the humanities, if you will. I also have interests in different languages and often times can become enamoured with obscure, rarely spoken languages I come across- one example being Basque . I've also practiced music for ten years, so am well familiar with music theory and notation. I also enjoy world music, which is a perfect melding of my instrumental and linguistic interests. I like to attempt to write short stories as well, but generally can never finish them. I am an avid fan of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, so the Queen of the damned movie can rot in hell where it belongs- you don't sin against characterization of my Marius and get away with it. >_>
[edit] Wikipedia
Aren't userboxes just nifty? As you can see, I'm a part of WikiProject Japan and focus mainly on Japanese Rock articles, usually Visual Kei in nature since I find it a much more interesting and curious genre. I'm also a part of the Counter-Vandalism Unit for a few VK artist pages and whatever else I run across that I see has been vandalized. Thanks to my heavy involvement with the Gackt wikipedia page, I've become a bit anal about vandalism and won't hesitate to revert and report repeat offenders. I really think it would be a good idea to restrict editing to registered users only, but of course that would take away from the novelty of Wikipedia.
I love grammar, so you should, too. Edit summaries are also wonderful. I'm a native english speaker and have decent experience with french. I also fully read both Japanese kana scripts and about 200 kanji (yeah, I know that's not much, but I'm working on it).
[edit] Pages currently working on
- Gackt- I am generally vigilant of this page (less so than I used to be, however), and would gladly welcome anyone who could honestly contribute in making it a better article.
- Charles Bucke- Page I created. Sadly all information in that article is EVERYTHING currently known about this author that google can find- he's very obscure and it's sad because his writing is excellent, in my opinion.
- Tetsu Takano- Page I recreated after it was deleted multiple times for plagiarism from a well-known Malice Mizer website run by user Flowersofnight . It's sparse since I'm not an expert on him, but it should still be there and I hope some fans will pick it up and run with it.
- Marius De Romanus- my favorite character in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. His article is poorly mismanaged by random fans who suddenly decide to rewrite the entire thing randomly. I hope to do more work on this soon.
I also occasionally check in on the pages for S.K.I.N., Moi dix Mois, Mana, and Malice Mizer whenever I have the patience for it. I'm also a spontaneous editor of occasional pages I happen to run across.
I also like to check in on pages relating to Farscape, as the show is a great passion of mine. However, I refrain from doing too many heavy edits there since the information is a bit overwhelming 80% of the time.
On rare occasions, I will check on some non-english counterpart pages on subjects that interest me and might make minor edits on them. Most recently I've edited the Japanese Farscape page for romanization errors on character names.
