[edit] The spelling of Hongwanji
Although the extra "w" is archaic, and looks out of place in Japanese romaji, I was told by a Jodo Shinshu clergymen that the Hongwanji staff prefer this spelling, so I put it back in the article. I personally disagree with that, but if that's the official "policy", it makes sense to make the article match this. --Ph0kin 06:56, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Kyonyo Shonin
I recently came back from a trip to Japan and visited the Hongwanji temple. I don't recall seeing any reference anywhere to this 22nd monshu, but instead I found that the 23rd monshu, Shonyo Shonin, was enshrined in the Hondo. Could this mention of the 22nd monshu be a mistake? Can someone elaborate? Thanks! --Ph0kin 06:56, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- Never mind, I found it. Apparently the Tsukiji website still lists the 22nd monshu, but the pamphlet I received mentions the 23rd monshu. I wonder if the website was written before the 23rd monshu passed away in 2002... --Ph0kin 07:01, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- The Japanese version of the website refers to the shrine as the 23rd monshu as well. I guess I answered my own question. :p --Ph0kin 12:31, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
