Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve is a nature reserve located close to the western coast of Madagascar at 18°40′S 44°45′E / -18.667, 44.75 (Tsigy). Because of the unique geography, preserved mangrove forests, and wild bird and lemur populations of the area, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990. Since that time the southern end of the protected area has been changed into a national park covering 666 km². The northern end of this protected area complex remains as a strict nature reserve (Réserve Naturelle Intégrale) covering 853 km².
