When construction of the Duplicate Tsing Yi Bridge start, a new section of the road, on the eastern part of the island, was built to serve the Container Terminal 9. This help reduces the amount of the heavy vehicle flow in the old section and avoids much noise pollution to the residents of Cheung Ching Estate and Mayfair Gardens.
