The Guard of TS Admiral Somers on Ordnance Island, St. George's, St. George's, Bermuda (alias The Somers Isles). The statue behind the guard is of Admiral Sir George Somers, founder of Bermuda, and was unveiled in 1984 by Princess Margaret as part of the celebrations of the 375th Anniversary of Bermuda's founding. This photograph was taken by the author in 1986. The Guard was assembled to greet American sailor Dodge Morgan as he returned to Bermuda, completing the fastest solo circumnavigation of the world (asea) aboard his boat, the American Promise. Senior officer shown is the late Lt. Commander Edwards, RNR (SCC).
