[edit] Back, sort of
My broadband card for my laptop and my router at home both died on the same day. I took that as a sign that I had been spending way too much time with Wikipedia. Between my adminship bid and Cirque du Soleil, I was going non-stop for almost a month. I took a few weeks off and got both my router and my broadband card fixed and I will be back after this weekend. I hope everyone is doing well. Trusilver 03:11, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome Back
Hi, Trusilver!! Nice to see you back. If you have some time, please have a look at the Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Some people have done a good job with it. I think it would interest you a bit. By the way, don't look for my name in the history section (haven't done a single edit for it :( Good luck, hope you'd fly Biman (means airplane) home. Let me have a nap at the passenger seat ;) Regards as always --Tarif from Bangladesh 16:49, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I corrected your edit here since there wasn't any deletion requests there I assumed you made a mistake and placed the wrong tag.. it seems to be an obvious vandalism on a user page. --F3rn4nd0 (Roger - Out) 04:29, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2007-08-22 Computer program
Hi Trusilver. You took in this mediation cabal case a while ago, but we've not really heard anything since. This is just a polite reminder - I know you are often away so I understand if it will take a while. Alternatively, feel free to un-assign yourself if you don't think you're likely to have time to deal with this. Thanks for your input. --HappyDog 20:27, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copy edit request
Hello, Trusilver,
I recently requested a copy edit from the League of Copy Editors and noticed that your name is included on the list of participants. At this writing, Jimmy McAleer, a B-class biography of an old-time American baseball figure, is in the peer review process. So far, all reviewers have suggested that the article is ready to send to the GAC. A couple of them recommended that I send it straight to the FAC. Before considering the latter, I would like to ensure that the article is as clean as possible. I'd greatly appreciate any time you're able to devote to it. Cheers, -- twelsht (talk) 14:59, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] League of Copyeditors roll call
Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there. The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors. |

[edit] Incorrect Vandalism 'Warning'.
Dear 'Trusilver'...
Re: Edits made on 'Charades' on the 15th of June, I have received a pretty angry message from you claiming that I vandalised the page. I am afraid to say that you've got your facts wrong. I did not edit the page, nor did anyone from my IP Address. On the date specified, I was sans internet connection, so it was impossible. Oops. That's not to say someone didn't vandalise it, as they certainly did, but it wasn't me or anyone in my immediate vicinity. Maybe the IP Address changed. I think you sent the message when that happened, but it has only cropped up now. So in future, I think you should double-check what you are claiming prior to wasting your's and someone else's time by making a false accusation.
There is no need to reply, I have made my point and understand yours already. Let's sweep it all under the carpet now and start afresh.
Arigato gozaimasu, thanks, and merci beaucoup. —Preceding unsigned comment added by This is yesterday (talk • contribs) 20:53, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Without any other information, I'm assuming that you speak of this edit in particular [1]. This edit most definitely was vandalism although it is indeed possible it was done by someone else who happened to be using your IP - a very good reason to create an account which I see that you have done. Considering the fact that this was the only edit made by this IP, I'm figuring that it was a dynamic address which both you and the offending user happened to share. I suggest you take your own advice from above. Trusilver (talk) 22:18, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Hoo-rah. I know exactly how everything functions - thanks - and in addition, I was not making a false accusation (whereas you did) and therefore my own advice is not relevant to me. I was, for the most part, just dying to prove my innocence in this matter. Which I have done. So there we go. TIY (talk) 14:46, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- You obviously do not know how things function since you were unable to determine for yourself when the vandalism warning was sent to you. (hint: It's right here and it's dated June 16th, 2007.) There was vandalism associated with your IP address as you will see from the link above, and you are incorrect when you say the vandalism warning was just sent - it was sent six months ago. The fact that it happened was irrefutable...again, see the link above, everything is dated. Whether you did it or not is between you and whoever else shares that IP, but seeing that you have an account, I really don't see what your particular problem is. Nobody has accused you of vandalism, the accusation was made toward the IP address in general - which as we all know doesn't neccessarily point to a particular person. Good day. please look into all of Blotto adrift actions and please read what other users have said.

72.155.193.91 self reverted. I don't see a reason to block. Theresa Knott | The otter sank 22:26, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Rewarding a vandal for self-reverting their vandalism AFTER they get caught for it is like saying it's okay to steal a car just as long as you put it back where you found it when you are done. I will unblock contingent on no more vandalism, the next offense and the block goes back. Trusilver (talk) 22:36, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- The latest warning on his userpage was actually for another person's edit. The "vandalism" is hours old. Blocks are not punitive. I'm not trying to reward anyone only undo a clear mistake. [edit] Removal of Warnings
Can you remove those warnings? Are you an Admin? Jdchamp31 (talk) 22:03, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- You are free to remove the warnings made to your talk page. However, I suggest that you resolve whatever issues you are having with the other user. The correct way to do that is NOT to make frivolous complaints to WP:AIV or WP:3RR, all that does is makes the administrators monitoring those boards irritable. Trusilver (talk) 22:08, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you
I'm getting depressed virtually every time I hit Wikipedia and see the New Messages notice. I know I'm far from perfect as an editor, but I'm really not understanding what's going on vis-a-vis Jdchamp31. Thank you for intervening, --Squiggleslash (talk) 22:09, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Absurd
There is no need for the stuff he is saying. He is not getting depressed he is wrong and other users should know he violates 3RR. I will continue to post the warnings and will kepp requesting AIV.
[edit] Threatening to Block
I do not think it is fair that you threaten to block me when you are not doing anything to help and resolve the situation. I will seek intervention as this is an issue that needs to be tended to. It is a dispute between edits on a template and edits between two users that both contribute on Wikipedia. Jdchamp31 (talk) 22:16, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:68.45.132.38
Thank you for the 31 hour block on User:68.45.132.38. But I'm confused, if you look back at his user contribution history, he is clearly an anon IP sock of indefinitely blocked User:Editorhwaller. I'm confused as to how this anon IP evaded the indefinite block and is there any way for me to request adding this anon IP to the list of Editorhwaller socks? Thanks, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 00:58, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Absolutely, see if you can find the puppeteer account at WP:SSP and add the new suspected IP to the list. It's very likely that the IP address that he is now editing from is different from the one his primary account was blocked from, and thus he's not going to be stopped by the block on that IP. Trusilver (talk) 01:03, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks Trusilver. I just tried that for for some reason, following the instructions as best I can (they are rather confusing to me) it stuck my report at the bottom in Archives rather than the Open cases section of WP:SSP. Do you think that's a problem? Will some kind admin spot it down there? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 01:15, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- I cut and pasted it into Open Cases and at least it's visible now. Thanks again. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 01:21, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Oh sorry, I just to really looking into this editor and realized he has already been identified as a chronic sockpuppeteer. Any suspected IP's get automatically added to the list when the "suspected sock" template is added to the user page. You can find the list here.[5] Trusilver (talk) 01:22, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] John Forbes (actor)
Quick question: I noticed you declined this on the grounds that it didn't meet G1. For my own curiosity, which criteria would be more appropriate? The entirety of the article is completely made up; the guy doesn't even exist (see my note on the talk page). Thanks for your help! Gromlakh (talk) 07:14, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've spent the last fifteen minutes or so researching this and I fully agree that it is a hoax. However, hoax articles are best to send to AfD and give the community a few days to fully explore the article and make sure that it has been fully verified that there is no truth to it. Go ahead and AfD it, I will be the first to support the deletion. Trusilver (talk) 07:19, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Are you crazy? You deleted the article, which was about one of the biggest factions of the largest Italian political party, without even waiting for me to hangon. As I understand that you did a mistake in good faith, I ask you kindly to revert your edit as it was simply undefendable. Thank you! --Checco (talk) 20:14, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Let's see... one of the biggest factions of the largest Italian political parties which was launched, according to your article.... today. No, I support the nomination for CSD. If you can show me some references that pass WP:N, I will either reinstated it or send it to AfD and let consensus decide. Trusilver 20:33, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- All the Italian newspapers wrote about it in their websites today (see Google news) because Veltroni, leader of the Democratic Party, attended the convention. Anyway, as merge of Liberal DS with other groups, I cannot understand how can it be considered not encyclopedic. The faction is composed of a number of MPs, by former ministers (Zanone, Bianco, Bassanini) and other leading politicians (notably Morando, leader of Liberal DS), as this source reckons. They will have soon a website. I don't feel any particular sympathy for them (as you may desume from my userpage), but they are definitely relevant for Wikipedia, as are all other Italian political party factions, on which other users and I are working. If you see my record, you will understand that I write on every Italian political party or faction. --Checco (talk) 20:46, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
-
-
- The article had a reference. I don't know why you did not read it. Anyway Liberal PD is the translation of "Liberal PD" (Italian not Romanian!) and means the liberal part of PD, acronym for Democratic Party. Please read articles before deleting them! --Checco (talk) 20:49, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- I did read it and your suggestion that I did not is baseless and counterproductive to getting what you want. But as you know... or should know... you need to have multiple non-trivial sources. ESPECIALLY when dealing with current events which tend to be dismissed as non-notable half the time anyway. I'm going to reinstate it on a wait and see basis. Add some references to the article and I will watch the news over the next few days concerning it. If it appears to satisfy notability than that's the end of it. If it doesn't I will AfD it and let consensus decide. Sound good? Trusilver 20:52, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
