Hey LS,

I've been watching your edits and I have some feedback for you, mostly places that you can brush up.

On this edit [1], you made a change to the article which is not bad. However, you did remove the reference from the previous revision which, on reviewing, probably should have stayed there. I'm not completely familiar with the subject in this case, so I can't say for absolute certain whether the information you pulled out would have invalidated the reference, but it's a good rule of thumb to leave the reference if you have any doubt.

I'm not saying that you should avoid deleting referenced material, period. I'm saying that you should give a lot more consideration to removing something that's referenced than you should something that is not. I personally read through a source exhaustively before I ever remove something with a reference on it. But on the other hand, I very rarely work on articles that I feel in any way passionate about. I prefer articles that I neither know nor care about the subject matter, it allows me to be more objective about them.

I'm encouraged by how well you handled the problems with the DBZ issues. My position is that you were perfectly justified in your first edit because the original editor was citing something that was pure speculation and lacking in any reliable reference material.

You are going to have a lot of issues just because the types of articles you edit are ones that are magnets for cruft. Good job in removing the trailer section on The Dark Knight (film) as that the section was unencyclopedic and unreferenced.

Concerning Countdown (DC Comics). Be very careful with this issue. You and User:Zythe have both violated WP:3RR. If I had to make a judgment on the issue, I would have to side more with Zythe. You don't need to give the end-all plot summary to every little nuance on the story, in fact it's discouraged to a point. Take a look at Iron Man for a few minutes, even read through the plot summary. The writers of that article have summed up around 400 issues of a comic into a space of thirty-one paragraphs.

My suggestion is when you have just reverted someone who you think is going to violate 3RR, you should send them a message reminding them of 3RR policy. I'm not saying a threat, I'm saying a polite reminder that they are subject to 3RR. And if they DO violate it, don't follow them down the hole and violate it with them. Write a report to the 3RR noticeboard and let an admin handle it.

Also, It's best not to call something vandalism when you have a suspicion that they might really just be making an edit that they think is correct. Assume good faith, even when you know for a fact that the edit they are making is doing nothing to improve the article.

If you have any questions, feel free. I should be here off and on all day. Trusilver 19:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
