Trump Tower (White Plains)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Trump Tower at City Center is a 35-story high-rise condominium apartment building built in White Plains, Westchester County, New York. It was completed in 2005. The Trump Organization (partnered with Westchester developer Louis R. Cappelli) led the development, sales, and management of the building. It has 212 condominium residences that opened September 21, 2005. It is adjacent to the "Lofts at City Center," which has an additional 29 units that were completed in 2005. A second 35-story residential tower at City Center includes 311 luxury rental apartments. City Center includes 450,000 square feet (42,000 m²) of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space that houses Target, Circuit City, Filene's Basement, Barnes & Noble, Office Max, a 15-screen National Amusements multiplex, New York Sports Clubs, Legal Sea Foods, Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar, and the Atlanta Bread Company. Additionally, it includes the 450-seat White Plains Performing Arts Center.

The building is adjacent and attached to a several story municipal parking lot whose rooftop holds the outdoor amenities for the Trump Tower residents. Rooftop amenities include a pool and lounge area, two tennis courts and a paddle board court.

Trump Tower at City Center was the tallest building in Westchester County and the tallest building between New York City and Albany until the 39-story Trump Plaza in nearby New Rochelle was completed.

[edit] Education

Residents are zoned to White Plains Public Schools [1].

School assignments for elementary and middle school depend on the district's assignments of students by racial groups [2]. The 2007 Meredith v. Jefferson County Board of Education United States Supreme Court decision stated that using race as the sole requirement in assigning schools is unconstitutional, so White Plains Public Schools may revise its school assignment policies.

Like all areas of White Plains, the tower is zoned to White Plains High School [3].
