The Trump Tower is a condominium project on hold located in downtown Tampa, Florida. The building is visible from the end of Bayshore Boulevard and Tampa General Hospital on the Hillsborough River waterline.[citation needed] Ground was broken on Trump Tower Tampa on March 2, 2006,[1] and as of July 2007 the foundation footings are being drilled.[citation needed] After recent cost delays and lawsuits, the completion date for TTT has been pushed until December of 2010. Even though that comes from SimDag, the completion date is still uncertain. Speculators account for 80 percent of preconstruction deposits.[citation needed]

[edit] Overview

As of 6:00 AM on Friday March 9th, 2007 the fence surrounding the construction site was taken down and some of the construction equipment is gone; two cranes still remain.[citation needed] On March 9th, 2007 the developers acknowledged in a press release that, "Cost overruns won't be the only obstacles Related [the development company] faces. Soil issues at the site, unpaid contractors and a general perception from the community that the 52-story luxury condominium tower will never be built also stand in the way of making the tower a success."[2]

On May 30, 2007, Donald Trump demanded his name be removed from the project, and sued the developers for over $1 million in unpaid license fees for the use of the Trump name. On the same day, the phone at the developer's office was listed as disconnected. The project's future is uncertain.[3]

As of June 7, 2007, the web site for the project states that the developers intend to continue the project, are meeting with unit buyers and are seeking new financing.[4]
