The Truku (太魯閣族, also romanized as Taroko; sometimes Sediq, Seejiq, or Seediq 賽德克族) people are an Indigenous Taiwanese tribe. Taroko is also the name of the area of Taiwan where the Truku tribe resides. The Executive Yuan, Republic of China has officially recognized the Truku since January 15th, 2004. The Truku are the 12th aboriginal tribe in Taiwan to receive this recognition. Sometimes the Truku/Sediq are classified in the Atayal group. Further and separately, Sediq was recognized as a tribe on 2008-04-23, the 14th to receive such recognition [1].
