True Norwegian Black Metal - Live in Grieghallen
(2008)

True Norwegian Black Metal - Live in Grieghallen is Gorgoroth's first full-length live album. It was recorded live in studio at Grieghallen Lydstudio in Bergen and Threeman Recordings in Stockholm. The songs featured on the album represent the most commonly played songs in Gorgoroth's live set. The cover design by Magnus Wohlfart is radically different from the last three full-length albums, being more reminiscent of the cover of the 1997 album Under the Sign of Hell. Most of the album was recorded before the band split into two opposing factions, with guitarist and original member Infernus on one side and vocalist Gaahl and bassist King on the other.[1] The bass for this album was later re-recorded by Infernus.[2] The album was released by Regain Records, despite the fact that King and Gaahl stated in December 2007 that they would not continue working with the label [3], as the label had previously released a statement in support of Infernus.[4]

  • Gaahl only did the vocals on 3 of the original versions of the tracks on this album - "Destroyer", "Unchain My Heart!!!" and "Forces of Satan Storms".
  • Session guitarist Teloch continued touring with the Gaahl-fronted version of the band after the split.[8]
