True Colors is a FOX sitcom that aired between 1990 and 1992, about an interracial marriage and a subsequent blended family. Although the show did touch upon race issues, most of the show revolved around the family adjusting and the three children going through adolescence.
[edit] Characters
Ronald Freeman - An African-American dentist who has two sons from his first marriage, which ended with the death of his first wife. He met Ellen when she was a patient of his, and the two started dating and later married. He was played by Frankie Faison in the first season and by Cleavon Little (in one of his final roles) in the second season.
Ellen Freeman - A divorced white woman with one daughter from her first marriage. She married Ronald Freeman and is now a housewife. Her mother, Sarah, also lives with her, which creates much of the show's humor. Occasionally she would be visited by her first husband, Leonard, who is accepting of her remarriage but still trying to get his life on track. She was played by Stephanie Faracy.
