True Children

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The True Children (in Unification Church parlance) are the 14 offspring of Sun Myung Moon (referred to as True Father by members of the church) and Hak Ja Han (referred to as True Mother): 7 boys and 7 girls. Collectively they are known as the True Family. The first child born was a girl (Ye Jin Moon), followed by the first son (Hyo Jin Moon).[1]

Church sources refer to 13 children most often because the second daughter (Hye Jin Moon) died a few days after birth. In December 1983, Moon's 17 year-old son (Heung Jin Moon) was killed in a horrific traffic accident involving a large truck as he was driving home to one of the mansions they call home in Tarrytown, New York. After a few weeks in a coma, Heung Jin Moon died on January 2, 1984.

Another son (Young Jin Moon) died in Reno, Nevada in what church members declare an accident, some even claimed it could have been Murder [1]. However, upon finding his lifeless body, the Reno Police Department initially filed a report of his death as a suicide. He fell from the 17th floor of the Harrah's Casino and Hotel in Reno.[1]

In an online diary entry[2] from his sister (Yeon Jin Moon), she details the development of depression and anxiety in Young Jin's life. She also notes how she felt when he insisted on traveling to Las Vegas alone when she asked to accompany him, suggesting he may have been planning a suicide attempt.

Moon later blamed church members for the deaths of both of his sons, claiming their faith was not strong enough.[3]
