TrueHoop

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TrueHoop [1] is an award-winning blog which covers the sport of basketball, primarily the National Basketball Association. The blog, which has been in operation since May 15, 2005, was one of several blogs honored with the 2005 "Best of the Web award" issued by Forbes Magazine [2] The site has linked to or referenced by many notable publications and organizations, including NBA.com, LATimes.com, and CNN/SI.com, and ESPN.com, and has been praised by notable sports columnsists such as Chad Ford and Chris Sheridan.[citation needed] The site has been noted for its investigations into the affairs of William Wesley, a noted (and somewhat controversial) NBA facilitator.[3]

TrueHoop is written by Henry Abbott, a sportswriter and journalist originally from Portland, Oregon; though now living in New Jersey. Abbott has written more than a dozen cover stories, more than a hundred feature articles, and a regular column, and is published in such sources as the official NBA Finals program, Inside Stuff, HOOP, and Men's Journal.[4] Abbott is a founding partner (along with his wife) in Gekko Productions, a media company which writes creative copy for blogs, advertisements, and speeches, and other language-based media. He graduated with a degree in journalism from New York University.[5]

In February, 2007, it was announced that TrueHoop was purchased by ESPN. Abbott predicted Pau Gasol would be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers a few hours before the actual trade happened. [6]
