[edit] Key West Weather Forecasting Office

I think this article incorrectly states that this NOAA office is located within the Truman Annex. In fact, the office is located on White St. about a half-mile inland. The address can be found on their home page and checking that location on Google Maps disputes what is stated in this article. Since it's such a small portion of the article I will just remove it. My change can be rolled back should someone produce evidence that trumps mine.Yock (talk) 13:48, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for correcting that. When I put it in there to begin with, it was reflective of the government facilities in the area associtated with Fort Taylor. The NOAA facility is outside the historic boundaries of Fort Taylor and is an entirely new structure. Americasroof (talk) 14:40, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
PS There is also a possibility that I might find a reference to put it back in. The logic is that all the government buildings on that part of the island once belonged to Fort Taylor and were renamed to Truman Annex. I think the forecast center is on property that has longstanding government ownership. However the forecast center makes no reference to Truman Annex even as the NOAA has an aquarium within the annex that it clearly identifies as Truman Annex. --74.237.105.27 (talk) 17:31, 31 March 2008 (UTC) (David Lybrand): A few clarifications for anyone who wishes to research the "Weather Forecasting Office" topic more thoroughly: There may be some confusion of the fact that historically there WAS a Weather Station within Truman Annex. I don't know when it's mission ended, but it's now been converted to an Inn. Photo: [1] Website: [2] There was also, until recently, a NOAA facility located on the waterfront at the Truman Annex. It was relocated to a new (Category 5 strength) facility on White Street toward the middle of the island. The building is now occupied by an "Eco-discovery Center".
