Troy Bieser

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Troy Bieser is a singer and songwriter currently living in Atlanta, Georgia. Over the course of his career, he has worked with a number of different artists and bands in Lancaster and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before moving to his current home in the south.

His most recent project, Telegram ([1]) was a critically-lauded trio featuring upright bassist Robert Henson and drummer Jamie Shepard. Their intense and emotional live shows, featuring Bieser's smokey tenor and impresionistic lyrics, garnered them much attention on the Atlanta scene (including a critics award for "Best Local Vocalist" in Atlanta's Creative Loafing's "Best of 2004" issue [2]) before their virtual disappearance sometime in early 2006. The band's music spawned two independent releases: 2005's All The World Asleep Tonight [3] and the never officially released Sessions at 800 East. At some point, Telegram also filmed a live performance DVD entitled Live at 800 East" [4] which featured the trio at the top of their game in stark black and white. Though no longer available, some of the performances can be found on YouTube1.

Bieser's co-writing credit on Sugarland's hit "Baby Girl" attained him notoriety beyond his genre and independent status. In 2005, the single went to #2 on Billboard magazine's Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts and received a nomination for "Song of the Year" [5] at the 2006 Academy of Country Music Awards [6]. Since then, Bieser has been in a seeming retirement, developing a reputation within the musical community as something of a recluse. In late 2007 however, he appeared with songstress Kitty Snyder on stage at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta for a set featuring songs from both of their catalogues.
