Tropojë is a town near the border of Kosovo in the Tropojë District, Albania. Tropoje e vjeter (Old Tropoje), sitting 240 meter above the sea level, is the name of the town at the foot of Shkelzeni Mountain (~2807m) from which the region of Tropoja takes its name. The people are identified as tropojans (tro-poi-yanz). Tropoje e vjeter was principally founded by the clan of Berisha (from which the prime minister Sali Berisha belongs to) and was the center of the commercial trade from the east (Kosovo) to the west (Shkoder) in order to get imported products from the Adriatic Sea. One of the principal trades was salt which was interchanged with the agricultural products. Having this geographical importance, Tropoje e vjeter was the principal place of the region. Tropoje e vjeter is also the name of pass which goes through the mountains, where the people from all over this region go during the summer for recreational purposes.
Tropoja has many agricultural products and is famous for its chestnuts, apples, nuts, grapes and especially blueberries. Tropoja ist einen Wichticke Brücke in Ballkan
