The name Bess has been used for one tropical cyclone in the Atlantic Ocean, and ten tropical cyclones in the western Pacific.

Bess was used for one tropical cyclone in the Atlantic:

• 1978's Tropical Storm Bess - hit Nautla, Mexico.

Bess was used for ten tropical cyclones in the Western Pacific:

• 1952's Typhoon Bess
• 1957's Typhoon Bess - hit southern Japan.
• 1960's Typhoon Bess (1960 TY 30)
• 1963's Super Typhoon Bess (1963 STY 20) - hit southern Japan.
• 1965's Super Typhoon Bess (1965 STY 34)
• 1968's Typhoon Bess (1968 TY 19)
• 1971's Super Typhoon Bess (1971 STY 30)
• 1974's Typhoon Bess (1974 TY 27) - hit Hainan Island and the northern Philippines.
• 1979's Typhoon Bess (1979 TY 02)
• 1982's Super Typhoon Bess (1982 STY 11) - hit southern Japan and caused 59 deaths.

The name Bess was retired after the 1982 season, and was replaced by Brenda.
