Trondheim Central Station (Norwegian: Trondheim Sentralstasjon) or Trondheim S is the main railway station serving the city of Trondheim in Norway. The station is the terminus of both Dovrebanen and Nordlandsbanen. South of the station the railway is electrified while it is not north of the station, so trains must change locomotives at the station.
[edit] Services
Trondheim S is the termius of express train routes on Dovrebanen to Oslo and on Nordlandsbanen to Bodø, with four daily trains to Oslo and two to Bodø, both including night trains. There are also regional train services north to Mo i Rana, on Rørosbanen to Røros and east to Östersund in Sweden (Mittnabotåget). Trønderbanen or Trøndelag Commuter Rail serves Trondheim S hourly with departues to Steinkjer and Lerkendal.
[edit] History
The railway station was between 1913 and 1968 the terminus for the Trondheim trams on the Elgeseter Line and Singsaker Line. In the mid 1990s a new bus terminal was built at the station, with all regional and long-haul buses departing from the terminal. But most city buses still use Munkegata Terminal in the city center and only some stop at the railway station.
