[edit] Story

The story describes a post-apocalyptic world in the near future, devastated by Demonic-influence of evil sects and by Wars. The spirits of warlords from past ages have been brought back to life, destroying civilization with disease and insanity. The bodies of the strongest survivors, the "chosen", are possessed by these violent spirits to rule the small, peaceful tribes with an iron fist. (Similar plot to Mad Max, Fist of the North Star, or Cyborg).

The supreme leader of this new order is known as Achilles.

You play as a young warrior resistant to the evil spirits, trained in martial arts, who has taken the battle-name Trojan.

Your mission is to infiltrate the lands of the evil army, fighting against pirates and gladiators and exorcising these human-demons from the earth in a gothic/industrial wasteworld.

[edit] Characters

Name Description
Trojan The protagonist of the game, the only warrior courageous enough to stand against Achilles. He is armed with a sword and shield, but can resort to using kicks and punches if he is ever disarmed.
Mamushi Twin mutants sporting green masks and bright red mohawks, armed with deadly throwing axes.
Iron Arm A large, bionic mutant who attacks by launching his iron fists like missiles. He can also use his arms to block the player's attacks.
Armadillon Armored mutant who is able to curl into a ball and roll across the ground, much like an armadillo. He is also able to breathe fire when standing.
Goblin An ugly, blue-haired mutant with remarkable agility, he leaps across the screen tossing spiked projectiles at the player.
Muscler An extremely large mutant clad in blue armor, he wields a giant club.
Red Trojan He possesses all the abilities of the main character.
King Shriek Second-in-command to Achilles, he wades into battle swinging an enormous flail. Like the Mamushi, he has a twin.
Achilles Leader of the evil tribes, an imposing figure dressed all in red. He attacks with a gigantic sword which causes great damage.

[edit] Gameplay

There are a few different versions of this game, the most famous being an arcade version and an 8-bit version for the Nintendo Entertainment System which also included a two player versus mode.

The arcade version supported two players, but only by way of alternating gameplay.

[edit] Controversy

Trojan generated a modest amount of controversy after it was revealed that a major prophylactic manufacturer had paid Capcom to name the game after a condom brand. A similar corporate tie-in can be seen with Capcom's Yo! Noid, in which Kamen no Ninja Hanamaru (Masked Ninja Hanamaru) was altered for Western audiences to incorporate a Domino's Pizza mascot.
