tRNA adenylyltransferase

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In enzymology, a tRNA adenylyltransferase (EC 2.7.7.25) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction

ATP + tRNAn \rightleftharpoons diphosphate + tRNAn+1

Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are ATP and tRNA(n), whereas its two products are diphosphate and tRNA(n+1).

This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases, specifically those transferring phosphorus-containing nucleotide groups (nucleotidyltransferases). The systematic name of this enzyme class is ATP:tRNA adenylyltransferase. Other names in common use include tRNA CCA-pyrophosphorylase, tRNA-nucleotidyltransferase, transfer-RNA nucleotidyltransferase, transfer ribonucleic acid nucleotidyl transferase, CTP(ATP):tRNA nucleotidyltransferase, transfer ribonucleate adenylyltransferase, transfer ribonucleate adenyltransferase, transfer RNA adenylyltransferase, transfer ribonucleate nucleotidyltransferase, ATP (CTP):tRNA nucleotidyltransferase, ribonucleic cytidylic cytidylic adenylic pyrophosphorylase, transfer ribonucleate nucleotidyltransferase, transfer ribonucleic adenylyl (cytidylyl) transferase, transfer ribonucleic-terminal trinucleotide nucleotidyltransferase, transfer ribonucleate cytidylyltransferase, ribonucleic cytidylyltransferase, -C-C-A pyrophosphorylase, tRNA cytidylyltransferase, ATP(CTP)-tRNA nucleotidyltransferase, tRNA adenylyl(cytidylyl)transferase, and CTP:tRNA cytidylyltransferase.
