Frankly, I'm tired of being nice. So, I'm going to call 'em like I see 'em. There are enough people on here who make me angry, that I no longer care if I make you angry.
In particular, I'm going to start posting stuff like this a lot:
[edit] WP:IAR
This is what I've decided to post every time someone bitches about the rules and quotes them verbatim. I think it's the funniest thing ever. The number one rule, according to Jimbo, is WP:IAR. So if you can't defend your opinion without quoting the rules, well, then your opinion has very little weight. Obviously, the game creator doesn't understand the "great tome of rules" (as he put it), so actually try explaining them.
Of course if your goal is to show the contributer the door, well, why don't you try the more obvious method of creating an edit war? He's a noob, so it should be easy to get him blocked, and then you won't have to continue this stupid gripe fest.
Oh, and kudos to the guy that was actually smart enough to attempt a compromise. Works a lot better than being a jerk, doesn't it?
(Oh and don't bother responding to me. I probably won't be back to this page) (Notice how I avoided WP:NPA by not mentioning names? See how stupid rules can be?)
--unsigned for a reason (if you must know, check the history)
Okay, so that's the only time I ever left a message like that. But it is what I believe. The context may be a little lost on this page, but I think you get the point. But, just in case you don't, here's a summation:
Don't quote rules, explain them. It works better. And never, ever tell someone that they shouldn't edit Wikipedia. The whole point of Wikipedia is that "anybody can edit" it. If someone has done something gregariously wrong, they'll be blocked. Otherwise, you are attacking them personally by telling them to leave.
