[edit] Summary

Photograph taken by uploader May 29 2007 of own possession, a Tariff Reform League lapel pin showing the logo of that organisation.

British Library Patents Department state: "The number 454899 [which number is on the rear of the pin] refers to a Registered Design from 1905. I found an entry in the old 'Official Journal' of the Patent Office referring to this design within Class II. The specific journal was published on May 10, 1905:"454,899. H.D.WILKS, 76, Caroline St., Birmingham. 20/04.". The design was registered by H.D.Wilks and it was submitted to the Patent Office on the 20 April, 1905.Class II is for articles of jewellery.Unfortunately this is the only information that The British Library holds about old designs.Old British designs are held at the National Archive (formerly the Public Record Office) in Kew. It should be possible to obtain a copy of the design from them. The design will have illustrations of the item in question and should include some brief information about the applicant, date, class etc."

[edit] Licensing

[edit] Fair-use rationale

  1. the logo is only being used for informational purposes;
  2. its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it represents the subject of this article.
