[edit] Moving pages

Hi there! I noticed your request/query at the talk page of the British 50th Infantry Division. Page moving is thankfully an undemanding task and pertinent Wikipedia pages are located at Wikipedia:Moving pages and Wikipedia:Requested moves. I'd also like to express my thanks for your contributions to WWII related articles. Keep up the good work! SoLando (Talk) 04:49, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject

Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.

A few features that you might find helpful:

  • Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
  • The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
  • Our project worklist contains some of the articles we're working on, together with a rating of their quality. It's not nearly complete, though, so please feel free to add any articles you work on if they aren't already listed there!

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 13:15, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi Tristan!

Hope you had a good holiday. Note what you said about the two seperate sets of history for the TA divisions, and the WW1 Wikikampfgruppen. Can you tell me a little of the history of the TA 1918-39? When did the divs stand down after ww1, and when did they reemerge? Cheers Buckshot06 08:50, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks again Tristan. Still trucking on... have made a short note with your and some other info in the Territorial Army page Buckshot06 07:52, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey Tristan. Good thought on the insignia for 5 Div. However for ww2 we need the 'Y' type insignia... Cheers Buckshot06 00:02, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Just fine with me. But which one of us finds and loads the 'Y' insignia for 5th Infantry Division in World War II? Buckshot06 07:15, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Badges

Hi, Tristian. You could try emailing the owner of the website and asking if they will let you use the images on Wikipedia articles about the divisions. If you promise to include their website in the "external links" they may agree. Davidbober 20:57, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Your edits look good Tristan. I suggest you finish the job, pull in the remaining info from the WW 1 entry, and reduce that page to a redirect. Cheers Buckshot06 11:10, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Punctuation

I noticed that a number of articles you've edited have unnecessary spaces before commas (,) and periods(.). Please try to avoid this as it makes more work for other editors to remove the excess spaces. --Russ (talk) 17:14, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Contribution

Hello. I am currently trying to contribute to a battle in respect to giving a reason why a Viking force had to withdraw from a native attack, which I think was instrumental to the article itself and since the person in question received her place in history for that act. Its my understanding that Wikipedia is meant for contributions, but the people at that region see fit to leave the situation vague. They have told me that I cannot simply copy and past from references and, in short order, I re-wrote the small addition in my own words. I don't see what the problem here is, however, they simply revert my edits and give me vague conclusion to why they have done so. The site is intended to be used for non-commercial reproduction so we have no problems in copyright infringement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. InternetHero 23:01, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Battle of Malaya

Hey Tristan, I see you've just changed the casualty figure for the Japanese section. But doesn't that figure belong to the Battle of Singapore and not Malaya? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wolcott (talkcontribs) 11:23, August 21, 2007 (UTC).

[edit] W. G. Holmes

Hi, Tristan: an apology. I 'went live' this morning with an article I've been working on, William Holmes (British general). When I was in the middle of making links to it, I found there was an existing stub for the same man called William George Holmes, so I merged this to my new article, picking up most of the text from it. But I have just discovered that William George Holmes was a very recent creation by you. So I hope you won't be offended! If you would prefer to bring the combined text back to William George Holmes, making William Holmes (British general) a redirect, that would be fine by me. Either name will do, but your start was clearly first. regards, Xn4 14:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

No worries mate it's all good so long as we have an article on the man. I'm not bothered too much about the credit or edit count. The article you wrote is good as well. Thanks for the politeness though i appreciate that. Tristan benedict 15:28, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your understanding! Xn4 15:40, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Leslie Collumbine

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Leslie Collumbine, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised.
