[edit] Marie de France

10/2 Hi Trixi! I reverted your Marie de France edits as I did not feel they were ready to be out on Wikipedia. I recommend creating a page something like User:Trixi72/marie (or something) where you can fully develop your ideas and write your code without breaking the page. Get everything the way you want it, then cut and paste it into the real article.

Also, just a few suggestions...

  • there are separate articles for The Lais of Marie de France, including each individual lai like Lanval. I would move commentary and analysis there rather than in the Marie de France article.
  • i would go ahead and create separate pages for any other works that you want to discuss, like her Fables, Espurgatoire, or the Saint Audree, as no one has touched these yet. Again, commentary and analysis of the works probably merit their own page.
  • Since the theories about Marie's identity are a little dicey (everyone's got one), I would cite your sources as footnotes, but I wouldn't push one theory over another lest the objectivity of the article be jeopardized.

Anyhoo, great research, and I look forward to seeing your final version!

10/2 Actually, I was super impressed by all the research that went into this entry. The only reason why I bothered contacting you about the revert was because the expansion had so much potential - not just for Marie de France, but for her other works as well. I would love to see a page just on her Fables, for example, and your students are almost there already.

Please encourage them to get their hard work posted. If they're trying to edit from a campus computer without logging on, the IP Address may be blocked (thanks to someone's abuse from that machine). Just a thought... or maybe it was a bug, who knows?

Thanks for recruiting new Wikipedians! :o) Very cool assignment!
