"Trick Me" is an R&B–ska song written and produced by American songwriter/producer Dallas Austin—well-known for writing and producing hits for artists such as TLC and Janet Jackson—for singer Kelis' third studio album, Tasty (2003).
The song was released as the album's second single in spring 2004. It was released in most countries around the world. The US label for Kelis, Arista, folded right after releasing the hit single Milkshake, so Kelis' album Tasty remained stagnant and its promotion halted. However, the European label for the singer, Virgin Records, decided to shoot a video for the ska-tinged "Trick Me"— to be directed by Little X. "Trick Me" became Kelis' biggest hit—right under "Milkshake"—in Europe.
The single sold 147,000 copies in the United Kingdom and 140,000 copies in Australia (2× platinum).
Reverend And The Makers also chose to cover this song when they guested on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge on the 30th of May 2007.

[edit] Chart performance
"Trick me" was released as the second single in Europe and everywhere else outside the US; it did not chart in the US because its music video was not released there, although it did manage to chart on the US Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles at number #7. In the UK "Trick me" earned Kelis her second and second consecutive top 3 hit when it debuted at #2. However it was only able to hold the #2 position for a week, compared to "Milkshake" which had spent four weeks at #2; none the less it sold 147,000 copies. In countries such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and France it peaked higher than "Milkshake". It reached #2 in the Netherlands, and is by far her highest charting single there.
"Trick me" has become Kelis' most successful single in Germany, France and Switzerland. Overall "Trick me" performed the best in European countries, reaching the top ten and twenty in most European countries. In addition to its success in Europe "Trick me" peaked at #5 for four weeks in Australia, becoming Kelis' second top ten and top 5 single, and also went Platinum, following "Milkshake" which was certified Platinum in 2003. In New Zealand, "Trick me" has also peaked at #3 tying it with "Milkshake" as Kelis' highest peaking single there; in comparison "Trick me" spent two weeks more than its predecessor on the chart.
"Trick me" also became Kelis' second top ten single on the united world chart when it peaked at #7, but did not match the commercial success of "Milkshake", Kelis's previous single. However In the countdown for 2004 of the united world chart, "Trick me" was placed higher than its predecessor, Milkshake. "Trick me" reached #27 with 2.894.000 points and Milkshake reached #35 with 2.603.000 points. To date, "Trick me" has become Kelis' second biggest hit, after "Milkshake".
