From WP:BAND:

Important note: Failing to satisfy the notability guidelines is not a criterion for speedy deletion. An article that fails to even claim that the subject of the article is notable can be speedy deleted under criterion A7, however. A mere claim of notability, even if contested, may avoid deletion under A7 and require a full Article for Deletion process to determine if the subject of the article is notable.

Ok? Guaka 19:54, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Arguing about why this band is significant will go further than arguing about the process, or rules, or whatever. Anyway, in the article as written, there's no assertion of significance. Friday (talk) 19:57, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, but I don't care so much about the band.
I do care about the process. And I think as it happens now, it's quite rude. And it happened 3 times. Doesn't make me happy. Guaka 20:15, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, things could have worked out better all around. The article could have explained the significance of the band. Those speedy deleting could have glanced at all music guide to see what they had to say. But, at least the situation is fixed now- I find it highly doubtful that anyone would bother nominating this for deletion now, but if they did, there's little chance it would get deleted. [edit] Suggestion to article creator

  • In the future when adding a new article, I would suggest that you take the time to write out a few sentences regarding some important pieces of information on the subject before saving/creating the page for the first time. Simply having "X is a band who plays Y music" will usually get deleted. If you need to see what the page looks like before you save it, use the "Show Preview" button. You'll save everyone time (including yourself) if you don't create one sentence stubs. Also, including a link to a reliable source is always a good idea when starting a new article. I usually start with a very basic article and expand that in the course of a day or so. Apparently that's not possible anymore.
Time would also be saved if speedy deletions were accompanied by notifications. Guaka 20:54, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
