Trescore Balneario is a town in the Province of Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy.
[edit] History
The city itself is mentioned for the first time in 996 AD.
The area was however known since ancient Roman times for its thermal baths, which were enhanced by Bartolomeo Colleoni and are still active: Balneario means in fact "of the baths" in Italian.
[edit] Main sights
- The 13th century Torre Suardi (Suardi Tower).
- The Neoclassicist cathedral with paintings by the Venetians Antonio Balestra and Sebastiano Ricci.
- The private Villa Suardi on the State Road for Tonale has frescoes by Lorenzo Lotto, dedicated to the histories of St. Barbara and Brigida (1524).
Also in the nearby is the Villa Terzi, a notable example of northern Italy 18th century residence.
