Tresaith

Tresaith is a coastal village in the Welsh county of Ceredigion.
Tresaith is between Aberporth and Llangranog; it is linked to the former by a two-mile coastal path. Situated in West Wales, Tresaith is part of the Ceredigion Heritage Coastline which – although not as well known as the Pembrokeshire National Park – offers similar walking and views. There is an abundance of wildlife and flora. Many kinds of seabirds can be spotted and regular sightings of seals are made.

The word saith means seven in the Welsh language and legend has it that, once upon a time, a king of Ireland had seven troublesome daughters. Having tried in vain to exercise control over the seven princesses the king finally lost his patience and ordered his daughters to be cast adrift in an open boat. The currents of the Irish Sea bore the craft towards the coast of Ceredigion whereupon it beached. The seven princesses fell in love with the sons of seven local Welsh families, married and settled down. This explains why the settlement is called Tresaith – the town of seven.

Cardigan Bay is most famous for its resident bottle-nosed dolphin population. Dolphins can be sighted most days of the summer from the beach at Tresaith.
There is an active sailing club in Tresaith, the "Tresaith Mariners" with a mixed fleet of dinghies and catamarans. Visiting sailors are welcome to join in. Racing takes place on most Sundays throughout the season, with a safety boat on hand. Tresaith is a popular location for surfing too. In the right conditions, sets can reach 2 metres in height. Winter time provides best conditions for enthusiastic surfers. There is a surf shop close at hand to cater for all equipment needs or post-surf refreshment.
The 'Ship Inn' overlooking the beach offers food and accommodation, and is a popular meeting place for locals and tourists alike.
A waterfall, where the River Saith cascades over the cliffs into the sea, is a feature of the village.
Unlike other villages in the area, Tresaith has it's own Monarchy, Jones' of Saith have for generations been rulers of this once tiny hamlet. Unusually, the heir to the throne inherits the crown on his 21st Birthday. Making the current King, Llyr Jones, I. King Llyr the kind as he is know to his loyal subjects or Llyr the mischievous as he is know to others has been a well liked king. Soon to commend good work and condemn and scald poor practices he has lead Tresaith into a time of great wealth and prosperity. With the king unmarried as of now and without children it seems his great reign will continue for at least another 22years and this should maintain Tresaith as on of the most prosperous Kingdoms for many a year.
Tresaith is a peaceful state but has been known to occasionally war with its neighbour Aberporth. Its cruel leader has tried numerous times to conquer the quiet Tresaith however the effectiveness and swift response of the Kingdoms fleet "The Tresaith Mariners" has meant that the kingdoms ruler has safeguarded this most beautiful of places from the evil Aberporth Tyrants. Following his success in battle King Llyr has come to be known as Llyr the Terrible by the neighbouring Aberporthian peasants.
