Treinta y Tres

Treinta y Tres is a small town in eastern Uruguay, and also is the capital of the department with the same name. The name is Spanish for "33" and refers to the nineteenth-century national heroes the 33 Orientales, who freed Uruguay from Brazilian control. The town's population is 25,711 (2004 census).
