Treaty of Teschen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Treaty of Teschen was signed on May 13, 1779 in Cieszyn between Austria and Prussia, which officially ended the War of the Bavarian Succession. The accord dictated that Austria would keep the Innviertel, as well as a strip of land stretching from Passau to the northern border of the arch-abbey of Salzburg. However, one of the requirements was that Prussia would recognize the Margraviates of Brandenburg-Ansbach and Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Saxony received an unknown settlement. With the treaty, the Electorships of Bavaria and the Palatinate were united into one. The peace came at the initiative of Russia and was guaranteed by both Russia and France.
