Treaty of Paris is an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois. The band consists of five members: Phil Kosch, Dan Wade, Brandon Capetillo, Chris Insidioso and Mike Chorvat. Between March 12, 2007 and September 30, 2007, the band participated in q101's Breaking the Band, in which they began to get local and national attention.[1] Their hit single, "Waking Up The Dead", has gained international attention from its odd and popular music video.
Treaty of Paris is signed on to Andrew McMahon's label ATR records.

Guitarist Daniel Arnold Wade met drummer Chris Luis Insidoso in gym class in their senior year of high school. Together the two began to record jazz beats on cassette for their classmates. The tapes became such a success that the Principal asked to play their songs during passing periods. They soon found bookings at local bowling alleys and movie theaters. On April 14, 2001 they met singer Mike Chorvat, then employed at a local hoagie deli, and the band Empyrean was formed. Mike's vocals brought in a larger fan base, and the newly formed band created their first compact disc Couch Jumping.
Soon after, bassist Brandon Capetillo (who was dating Mike's sister at the time), drummer Scott Hoeft, and guitarist Phil Kosch (who had previously played in local Chicago pop punk band Saraphine), joined the corps, and the group adopted the name Treaty of Paris in 2004. The name had originally been conceived on the spot before a show the band had booked,[2] but they decided to keep it because of Chris' fascination with historical documents. Hoeft would later leave the group and was replaced by Chris Insidoso from Empyrean.[2] Their first release was the 2005 EP Behind Our Calm Demeanors;[3][4] tracks from Behind Our Calm Demeanors received significant airplay in Chicago, and the EP sold well locally.[2] The group toured the US extensively over the next two years.[5][1]
Teaming up with Andrew McMahon of the bands Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin, the group recorded their full-length debut, Sweet Dreams, Sucker, in Burbank, California,[1] which was released on McMahon's label on September 25, 2007.[6] Soon after the release of Sweet Dreams, Sucker, lead guitarist Daniel Arnold Wade separated his collar bone in a kayaking accident and was forced to sit aside for three months as the band played Christmas and Hanukkah shows for orphans. After several months of rehabbing and writing lyrics, Dan was welcomed back to the band in time to join the for the famous annual President's Day show.[7]
The band most recently toured with Yellowcard. They are planned to perform at the Bamboozle festival with acts such as Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, and many others as well as on the Vans Warped Tour between June 20 and June 29.
Lead singer Mike Chorvat is classically trained in singing.
