[edit] Doug Wilkins Information
Why is this information relevant to the history of Trexler Scout Reservation? It seems to have only been added in a malicious manner aimed to turn people away from the camp. Is there any other information on the subject, such as his past or what may have happened afterwards? Also, what source or reference is there to back up "...Trexler Scout Reservation was brought into question as to the screening and criminal record checking process performed on council employees..."? Isn't the screening process done by the council itself? I feel the information should be removed until this is resolved. --68.46.77.148 00:41, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- It could be reworded to make it seem less attacking of TSR, but I think that it should be kept there. It is somewhat of an "important" event with how some escaped convict was working amongst the scouts. Mike6271 02:26, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sadly, it's just not that simple. There needs to be clear sources and references to back up the Wilkins information if it is to be relevant to the history. There is more to the Doug Wilkins story than some article found on the internet, and this information also needs to be included. I suggest you delve a bit further and afterwards submit a revised version, if you still feel the information is necessary. --65.78.84.75 21:29, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thankfully he wasn't some sex offender. Although far from "crucial" for the camp's history, I still think it should be included as long as it is unbiased. Despite him not being "that bad of a guy," it still shows that there was a criminal running around with the little tiny cub scouts and boy scouts...not something most parents would want to know! - Apparently you have some sort of personal connection to this topic. Perhaps it would be best if this sort of thing were left up to those who are unbiased on the subject. It seems to me that you also have something personal against Mr. Wilson or the camp itself. You yourself said that this is not something parents would want to know, so why publicize? From my research, the information has been public for years. Doug Wilson no longer works at the camp, and the issue has been closed. This just very much seems to be a person prying at personal demons; everybody and every place has them and they are dealt with. Perhaps one day you will have your own Wikipedia page...would you want your worst blemish available for all to see? --65.78.84.75 05:58, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why This Article is Advertisement-Like
After reading the article, it seems as if this article has advertisements in it. For example, where it says "The camp also offers its unique Athletics area and innovative new approach to earning Eagle Merit Badges at camp in a program we call 'Area 7'.," we makes it seem as if though someone from the camp wrote the article in an attempt to get other scout troops to come to the camp. - IT's a problem many such articles have, people want to brag about their favorite/home camp/council/lodge, etc. Rlevse 01:18, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree. I have a personal website that has my experiences at Camp Trexler on it. It's fine where it is, but it's inapproprate for Wikipedia.

Camp Trexler no longer offers Pioneer Camp, or a similar camping experience during the summer?
