[edit] Segment Synopses?

All three plot summarys are poorly worded (especially spacing) and contain too many quotes. Does anyone feel up to a plot summary overhaul, to condense them down and make them clearer? I would do it, but I have not seen this Treehouse of Horror yet. I will be renting it in a few weeks (I'm going through each season to prepare for Season 19) so if no one does it by then, I'll gladly do it. Moviemaniacx 16:00, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

I totally agree. Good luck fixing up this mess. i have never seen such a shoddy article. its nothing but quotes. I will have a go if i have the time. by the way, how do you intend to go through every season when they have only made 9 seasons available so far and only a handful available for download?--203.27.231.250 02:38, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Viola! It is done, it is much better now. did you read the drivel from before? "Homer is a big dumb idiot" "the Trojan incantation is a reference to trojan condoms" "homer has no brain". Rubbish! --203.27.231.250 05:01, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Excellent job! It's much easier to read now and a whole lot clearer. To answer the first question, I meant to say "each available season", but forgot and typed "each season". Whoops! Moviemaniacx 18:23, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll see if i can improve anything else. I have added external links and references and I will watch the episode again and see if I can clear up the cultural references section.--203.27.231.250 04:59, 31 July 2007 (UTC) (now Simpsons fan 66)

[edit] King Homer

Would it be needed to add a trivia paragraph about King Homer who appears back in one of Season 18`s Couch Gags? User:Gamesrcool

I don't think that its very noteworthy on this page. If the episode in question has a trivia section (and only if) you could stick it there but it has no place on this page. Good observation anyway. --Simpsons fan 66 04:49, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bart as Alex

Can someone please stop removing the bit of trivia about Bart being Alex from Clockwork Orange for his halloween costume. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.43.94.13 (talk) 02:26, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

It's already in the plot and doesn't need to be mentioned again in the cultural references. --Simpsons fan 66 08:24, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA review

I'll add my comments as per the numbered Good Article criteria.

1. Well written
  • The lead needs to be expanded to include a small plot summary; much like the Plot section just below it.
  • Wiki-link the first mention of "New York", "Skinner", "Flanders",
  • What is KrustyCo? (I can guess but shouldn't have to)
  • "It originally aired on 29 October 1992." This needs to say where (I'm guessing in the US) and on what network.
2. Factually accurate
  • Why is "He was a Zombie" a famous line? This needs a specific citation.
3. Broad in it's coverage
  • OK here
4. Neutral
  • No probs
5. Stable
  • No edit wars I can see
6. Illustrated
  • You need to add wiki-links in the image captions where you can.
  • The images are all to large a resolution (except Image:Bart ClockworkOrange.jpg). There is no need for them to be so large, they should be reduced.
  • I'm not entirely sure you need five fair use images for this one article. The Image:Alfred Hitchcock's Silhouette.JPG image is fine because it's mentioned specifically in the article, but the other four I'm not so sure. Unless the part of the show in the image is specifically mentioned in the text it could fail fair use rationale. For example Image:Treehouse of Horror IIIa.jpg; is this Homer getting choked or drowned? It doesn't say in the caption, and if it's drowned (looks like that to me) it should be removed. Image:Treehouse of Horror IIIb.jpg is probably ok, but Image:Treehouse of Horror IIIc.jpg and Image:Bart ClockworkOrange.jpg don't seem to add much real value to the article at all, and so fail fair use rationale. This is quite a big deal so please fix these things.

I will place the article on hold. I'll check the article within the next week, and won't fail it before then, but after it's been on hold a week I make no guarantees. If you have any questions or queries feel free to contact me on my talk page. - Shudde talk 03:55, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

I think I have fixed the first few minor points, including the removal of images. However I don't believe a short plot summary is neccesary for a Treehouse of Horror episode, since there are three stories. Treehouse of Horror V, another GA, does not have a plot summary. The "he was a zombie line" does have a specific citation in the episodes commentary, Quote - "That's a great line, the "He was a zombie", There's one of the all time classic lines" - Matt Groening. The image of the halloween party for the main image was already in place when I began work on the article. I left it because it fits in and illustrates the episode in general, instead of a specific segment. Also If we don't use that image I don't know what we could replace it with. When you talk about high resolution, do you mean the images in the article are too big or the original file needs to be reduced? --Simpsons fan 66 22:09, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
The lead is supposed to summarise the article. The fact that the lead in Treehouse of Horror V doesn't do this does not mean this article's shouldn't. I'm not saying the plot summary needs to be very long, but there needs to be one. The original file sizes need to be reduced, the fair use rationale says they are low resolution. They are not. Those other fair use images need to be sorted out, there are five of them. That's a lot, and if you are going to have five, you need to have a very good reason. Like I said above it's very important. - Shudde talk 04:25, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
I got rid of two of the images and added a plot summary. I also replaced the Treehouse of Horror IIIb.jpg with a different picture of lower resolution. The bartclockworkorange.jpg and alfredhitchcock.jpg images are already low resolution. Any other issues? --Simpsons fan 66 06:09, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
The zombie line needs to be referenced both times in the article (certainly not just the second time). Only other thing is the names in the lead that havn't been wiki-linked. The images are much better now, thanks for fixing that. - Shudde talk —Preceding comment was added at 06:54, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Fixed the wikilinks and removed the bbc link, is that it? --Simpsons fan 66 09:23, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
All done. Great stuff. - Shudde talk 19:30, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
