I think we need to find a new name for this category, or people will start adding Oak etc. How about "Tree data structures"? DJ Clayworth 23:14, 9 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Tree data structures is very bad. Not all of these are data structures; some (most) are mathematical objects that need not be finite. I agree that a name change is needed; Dutch elm disease and forestry are not among the intended topics. I suggest trees (mathematics). Michael Hardy 00:10, 10 Jun 2004 (UTC)

... or maybe trees (graph theory). Michael Hardy 00:11, 10 Jun 2004 (UTC)

At present, this category is for listings of notable individual trees only (not tree species, nor mathematics) - see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Tree_of_Life for extensive discussion of usage of categories - MPF 19:51, 7 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I'm having a hard time finding any tree species articles that are already categorized. Where would they go, if not in Category:Trees? [[User:Aranel|Aranel ("Sarah")]] 20:17, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Mainly because tree isn't really a very good, definable category - look at the amorphousness of the definitions at tree and shrub. Also because if they were all included in Category:Trees, then that category would (eventually) have thousands of articles listed. Better to put the pages into categories of their family and order. Take a look at Category:Conifers and its subcategories for a suggestion of how to proceed. It's something I'll be working on a fair bit over the next month or two. - MPF 10:12, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
