[edit] Talk

This section is for all those who have requested this translation, are translating or proofreading this article, or just want to give some advice about the translation in progress. Do not forget to watch this page.

In particular, you can use {{Doubt | original sentence }} or {{Doubt | original sentence | possible translation}} to highlight the problems you encounter during the translation process.

I looked around a bit and determined that "exotismo" means "exoticism". I could be wrong, but I think this is the most likely translation. For "Letras" I suppose it could be translated as "Literature" as you proposed. If you find a verified translation for "Letras", please change the text accordingly. Seraph 10:33, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for all the work you've been doing regarding this translation, Seraph. There are still several parts that seem to be worded somewhat awkwardly (eg. "Second decade of the twentieth century ---> 1920's ) Perhaps you were using British/Australian English? If so, I apologize for correcting dialect, however, unless you request otherwise, I will probably correct most of these and bring the article fairly close to completion tomorrow night. (I haven't had much time to work on this article recently, as I've been up to my neck in work. I will probably finish much of it and get a break by tomorrow. Ninja! 00:12, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

I have been working on this article some more, and have made a few more corrections to the way the article was worded, but I think that other than needing a few changes in rhetoric the article is looking close to being ready for proofreading-- you really did translate most of the article. Ninja! 20:27, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

I think this translation is pretty much done; I'm turning it over for proofreading now.

[edit] Proofreading completion process

I reverted the completion process back to 80% as I believe there are still some gramatical sentence structuring changes that need to be made. I will get to them as soon as possible, but welcome others to work on this as well. --Keylay31 15:20, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

I made a ton of gramatical suggestions in the "discussion" area (aka the Talk Page) of this article. If I don't hear from anyone in about a week, I'll just go ahead and implement them.--Icehcky8 20:40, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I think the proofreading is done. --Icehcky8 18:27, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree. I will change it to 100% complete and take down the construction tag. Keylay31hablame 22:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Next Steps

Please add the following to the bottom of the article to follow GFDL norms: {{Translation/Ref|Language|Source|oldid=parameter of the permanent link}}

Also, being the good wikipedia user I am, I want references... Keylay31hablame 23:01, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Isn't there a tag you can place at the top of the article about references or lack of cited sources or something? As far as I can tell, the translation and proofreading of this project are finished. The rest can all be discussed in the actual talk page of the article itself. The project page is probably done. Let me know if that's an inaccurate statement. I'm still kinda new to this. Icehcky8 02:58, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree. (Also new to this and can't find specific instructions as to how to kill the project correctly.) Keylay31hablame 23:48, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

And upon further review, the article has plenty of references, they just aren't in your typical website format... (this seems like a more professional way, though we are so used to being able to point out every statement's origin) Keylay31hablame 23:52, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Instructions

Updating the information on the translation

The translation process normally involves the following stages: "Request," "In Progress," "Proofreaders Needed," and "Completed Translation."

It is, of course, possible to backtrack to the previous stage (if you have decided to not continue translating, for example). It is also possible to skip a stage, especially if you want to start translating an article you chose immediately; in this case, you would skip the request stage by not putting it on the page for the current month's requested translations.

To pass from one stage to another, you must:

  • modify the parameters of the progress made on this page, and
  • put the {{Wikipedia:Translation/Margo Glantz}} banner, which will take care of all the rest, in the right place.

Note : if, in a particular situation, you think that the template takes up too much space, you can use the following syntax instead :

{{Wikipedia:Translation/Margo Glantz| Parameter = hide }}

The table below shows all the steps needed for each stage:

Stage Parameters to modify {{Wikipedia:Translation/Margo Glantz}}
Stage 1:
Translation Request
It starts at the creation of the page and involves the following parameters:
  • {{Translation/Information|language code|original name of the article to be translated|name of the translated article (in English)}}
  • Interest
  • Comment
  • Requested By
Stage 2:
Translation in Progress
  • Stage ==> 2
  • Translator-s ==> ~~~
  • Proofreading_progress => 0
  • Permanent_link => [URL ~~~~~][1]
  • Comment ==> you may post a new comment if you wish to do so
Stage 3:
Proofreaders Needed
  • Stage ==> 3
  • Translation_progress => 100
  • Comment ==> you may post a new comment if you wish to do so

Each time someone volunteers to proofread, he/she must modify the following parameters:

  • Proofreader-s ==> ~~~
  • Proofreading_progress ==> XX (percentage of proofreading done)
Stage 4:
Completed Translation
  • Stage ==> 4
  • Proofreading_progress ==> 100

Please add the following to the bottom of the article to follow GFDL norms:

{{Translation/Ref|Language|Source|oldid=parameter of the permanent link}}

Example : {{Translation/Ref|fr|Liberté|oldid=12133757}}

The last template is to be used to mention the source of a translation from another Wikipedia (again, to respect GFDL norms):

  1. ^ Explanation : If the translation takes a while, the original article risks having changed quite a bit throughout, making the translation and eventual proofreading problematic.

    You can avoid this problem thanks to the Permanent link function, which appears in the toolbox at the lower left of every page.
