User talk:Tractor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is tractor's talk page. If you know me as tractor, tractorBeam, extractor or one of my other varients you probably saw me on FreenodeIRC, and came here to find out more. Cool! Thanks! I'm not sockpuppetting or spoofing but my early Wikipedia name was Quinobi and these days I prefer CQ. Tractor will someday be an IRC bot with my some of my personality ;)

[edit] Welcome!

Hi, Tractor, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the five pillars of Wikipedia. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.

[edit] Additional tips

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like — [[User:Ilyanep|<span style="color:gray;">Ilγαηερ</span>]] [[User talk:Ilyanep|<span style="color: #333333;">(Tαlκ)</span>'']]. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

[edit] Happy Wiki-ing.

[edit] Tractor the human

Tractor has appeared on IRC Freenode for many years. The person you were talking with is Charley Quinton who is the developer of the tractorbot from the OzoneFarm project.

[edit] tractor the bot

This bot does not edit Wikipedia content. Any editing done by this User was done by Quinobi manually. There is no bot yet. Only the idea for one. Please read all of this stuff before posting in here:

[edit] Discussion

This discussion is about developing the tractorbot for IRC-enabled server/client interaction and the human interface for using it. If that's not on your mind, you may be in the wrong place. Quinobi 20:38, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The Perl Object Environment

It wasn't until my tiny group (#ozonefarm) installed our own copy of MediaWiki that I saw firsthand what heartbreak the founding group (#wikimedia-tech) had to deal with during the birth of the Wikipedia in the context of vandalism. I think POE (#poe) may hold some answers. (but it's only an intuitive hypothesis) -- Tractor 12:47, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
