[edit] Who I Am
My name is Carianne, but I'm equally likely to answer to SK online due to a mailing list that I ran for about ten years. The Wiki username comes from my blog, which is currently inactive. The Mac box is only half true. Mac at home, PC at work. Why isn't there a dual box?

My first edit to Wikipedia was on October 9, 2007 but I didn't really do any substantial substantial editing until later that month. My Wikipedia editing really ramped up in January 2008 as I discovered more aspects of the project and realized how much I enjoyed it. I became an admin on May 22, 2008. I tend to be active on and off during day and evening hours, Eastern Standard Time. I'm reachable via e-mail but don't do IRC.
While I do a little bit of everything on Wikipedia, below summarizes my most frequent work areas.
I'm currently heavily involved with the Museums WikiProject which involves a lot of assessing. I'm a geek, I love it. I started off with User:Travellingcari/Museums and realized it was far more than a one-man job. I expected to devote my time and contributions to tourism projects, specifically Wikipedia:AUSTRALIA and Wikipedia:Japan due to my familiarity with the regions and the need for assistance, however I got involved in other projects as well, as my contributions reflect.
[edit] My Favorite Articles
Some articles where I believe I did my best work:
- Go Fly, the article had been an almost wholly unsourced essay and I added in many references and re-wrote it to be more encyclopedic.
- Independence Air, as above the article was in need of a large clean up.
- 2002 European floods, it was little more than a stub and I brought it up to a sourced and lengthy article on the floods and their effects.
- Backpacking (travel), one of my first Wikipedia contributions, I re-wrote it following research in the area.
- Independence Air, the article needed a good scrub, and I think I achieved that.
- Edgar Allan Poe Cottage, which earned me my first DYK
There are more, but those are the ones I spent the most time on, I believe.
[edit] Random Contributions
I've developed a habit of clicking the random button and working on articles that I feel I can improve so my contributions may not directly reflect my interests. I also spend substantial time working through the backlog, so that is also a contributor to the number of 'odd' articles in my contributions.
I'm active in AfD discussions and wouldn't say I'm a deletionist or an inclusionist, but I want to make Wikipedia as encompassing as it can be while still maintaining a high quality. To that end I support a wide range of topics but I think there are articles here that are entirely unencyclopedic. I do not understand those who vote 'on principle' and don't read the comments of the nomination or the article as that's no way to improve.
[edit] Good Stuff
While I enjoy editing Wikipedia for the sake of improving the project, there's nothing wrong with a little recognition to remind us we're doing a good job.
I discovered DYK with Edgar Allan Poe Cottage and quickly got hooked. I'm not afraid of suggesting my own contributions for DYK.
